Attempt to smuggle e-cigarettes foiled at Mudawara border crossing

AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) said that its personnel at Mudawara border crossing, in cooperation with security agencies, have seized 723 e-cigarettes and four 25kg gallons of vaping liquids, which were hidden inside of luggage in a bus carrying umra (lesser pilgrimage) pilgrims.

Authorities detected the contraband during a routine  inspection of a bus carrying umra pilgrims at Mudawara border crossing.

The materials were seized and legal actions were taken, the JCD said in a statement on Wednesday as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra. JCD Director General Maj. Gen. Jalal Qudah praised Customs Department’s field agents' for their efforts and professionalism in preventing smuggling. Qudah also commended customs personnel’s role in “ensuring justice in the local market” and protecting the national economy and the public from counterfeit and fraudulent goods.
