AMMAN — Public sector employees will now have a say on how to develop the performance of government entities thanks to a recently launched project, according to a senior official.

Minister of Public Sector Development Khleef Al Khawaldeh said the ministry will set up a platform to receive, process and adopt government employees’ suggestions on how to improve public administration.

Khawaldeh noted all public employees, regardless of their ranks and tasks, are welcome to present their ideas and suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of public agencies and the quality of services offered to citizens.

In a statement sent to The Jordan Times on Tuesday, Khawaldeh said the best mechanism to implement the initiative is being studied now, adding that public employees can send their suggestions to the ministry’s website or to a designated e-mail address.

“The initiative falls within His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to instil a culture of excellence in public administration,” the minister said.

He added that the best suggestions will be those on how to improve the performance of individuals and institutions, control public spending, increase revenues and upgrade the quality of services.

A specialised committee will be formed to receive and process employees’ ideas and suggestions to be referred to the prime minister for evaluation and implementation, Khawaldeh added.

“The end result is to enhance citizens’ confidence in the performance of public agencies,” he said.
