AMMAN — The Cabinet on Tuesday passed a decision to sell 915 surplus government vehicles and purchase energy-efficient vehicles, which will be distributed to government institutions according to their needs.
Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Sami Daoud, in press remarks following the meeting, said that the decision, which was taken to cut down on government spending, followed a series of field visits conducted by a tasked committee to assess the actual need for government vehicles, which discovered 1,340 surplus vehicles.
Daoud stressed that introducing electric cars will reduce fuel and maintenance costs, adding that “work is under way to transition to using only electric government vehicles”.
