Canada’s minister of international development visits INJAZ 

AMMAN — Canadian Minister of International Development Harjit S. Sajjan visited the local NGO INJAZ’s business incubator “mySTARTUP”.

Sajjan’s visit to mySTARTUP comes as part of the Launching Economic Achievement Programme (LEAP) that is implemented by INJAZ in partnership with the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) which was launched in 2018 and funded by the Canadian government, according to a statement from the NGO.

The visit included a meeting with INJAZ CEO Deema Bibi that covered the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan and discussions on ways of cooperation to support youth entrepreneurship.

Sajjan said: “Small and medium enterprises are the backbone of all economies around the globe.”  

“The youth unemployment crisis, an influx of refugees, and a global pandemic is a tremendous challenge — but young people are the solution. We need their important insights so that governments everywhere can address their concerns and build a future that includes everyone,” he added.

Bibi said that “mySTARTUP” business incubator is part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jordan and works directly with all parties to advance this sector, pointing out that the incubator includes a large group of female and male entrepreneurs who have established their start-up companies in a variety of fields, including green, educational services, and technology sectors.

During the visit, Sajjan met with a group of women and men entrepreneurs and learned about their projects and start-ups that benefited from Canadian support and partnership.
