Civil aviation authority, IATA sign cooperation memo

AMMAN — The Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation and unify efforts aimed at further improving safety levels in civil aviation.

The deal stipulates exchanging information, expertise and practices related to civil aviation safety, such as adopting an IATA programme for checking on safety procedures related to ground operations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

CARC Chief Commissioner Captain Haitham Misto said that signing the agreement reflects the commission’s keenness to develop the civil aviation sector and CARC’s commitment to improving the aviation safety in the Kingdom.

Muhammad Bakri, IATA’s regional vice president for the Middle East and Africa, expressed IATA’s keenness to sustain cooperation and coordination with the Kingdom in enhancing safety procedures.
