AMMAN — With the aim of uniting people through music, the Italian embassy in collaboration with the Liguria Region, held a classical concert at the Terra Sancta Auditorium in Amman on Tuesday.
The concert was held in close collaboration between the Nai Choir of Amman, directed by Diana Talhami, the National Music Conservatory, directed by Mohammed Sidiq and the Italian Vocal Ensemble of the Sandro Pertini Music High School of Genoa, directed by Professor Luca Dellacasa, according to an embassy statement.
The event represented a mutual tribute to traditional Italian and Jordanian classical music, rendered by the choirs in unison, and facilitated an opportunity for exchange between young artists for professional growth.
The arrival in Jordan of the Vocal Ensemble of Pertini High School, from Genova, Italy, has been followed by an intense week of joint rehearsals and artistic exchange between the Italian students and the musicians of the Nai Choir and the National Music Conservatory of Amman, reaching its climax on March 2 with the final concert at the Terra Sancta Auditorium in front of a large audience.
Italy’s Ambassador to Jordan Luciano Pezzotti said that without a “particularly solid cultural relationship between Jordan and Italy, it would not be possible to hold such events. These not only highlight the commitment to build solid bridges between the two countries, but also to present the beauty of culture beyond geographical borders and to spread both Italian and Jordanian expertise and excellence”.
This event is part of a cultural programme of the Italian embassy in Amman to expand the knowledge of Italian tradition, culture and talent, and underlines Italy’s commitment to tighten collaboration with artists, such as Vocal Ensemble of Pertini High School, to export their talents and to build “solid and long-lasting cooperation” with Jordanian counterparts.
