AMMAN — The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has taken precautionary measures considering the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) warnings against purchasing and using infant formula Similac Alimentum after reports of Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella infections in infants.
JFDA Director Nizar Mhidat said that Similac Alimentum is not registered with the JFDA, while it is manufactured under the names Similac Total Comfort and Similac EleCare, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
As part of the measures, the JFDA urged consumers not to purchase or use the Similac Total Comfort if the containers contain the following numbers: 23393k800 and 25050k800, as well as Similac Elecare containers with 30384Z200 code, until they are retested. The JFDA invited the public to report any complaint via the administration’s toll-free helpline number 117114, e-mail: [email protected] and WhatsApp: 0795632000.
