AMMAN — President of the Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA) Ahmad Samara Zu’bi announced that the Court of Cassation overturned the Court of Appeal's ruling which entailed imprisoning JEA members for  approving the membership of engineers from the West Bank in the syndicate.

Z'ubi expressed his and all the members of the JEA's pride in "the great Jordanian judiciary" for its support to the engineers and its firm national stand through the years, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He expressed his appreciation of all those who stood by the JEA side and supported the accused engineers, stressing his pride in the Kingdom's rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.

Last month, the Amman Criminal Court issued a three-month imprisonment ruling against JEA council members after accusing them of issuing false documents approving the membership of engineers, who do not carry national numbers and work at the JEA branch in Jerusalem.

On Thursday, the JEA president stressed that the association will never hesitate to serve the national causes and the Palestinian issue in accordance with the Jordanian stance.

Zu’bi has recently noted that Article 3 of the association's law states that the syndicate has two main branches, one in Jordan and another in Jerusalem, and they issue memberships to engineers in both Jordan and the West Bank.

In a press conference attended by The Jordan Times, Zu'bi had said that the cancellation of the West Bank engineers’ memberships entailed returning all the fees they paid which would deprive them and their families from the association’s benefits, including retirement pensions.
