CPF, UNICEF sign memo launching youth volunteer platform

AMMAN — The Crown Prince Foundation (CPF), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Naua, on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding meant to motivate and engage Jordanian youth in volunteer work and community service.

According to a joint statement, CPF, Naua (a CPF initiative run in cooperation with the private sector) and UNICEF will work together to develop an online platform that would connect young people with volunteer opportunities at organisations and institutions. 

The organisations plan to capitalise on the vast experience and knowledge base of Naua, the statement said, adding that the initiative would focus on the technicalities of volunteer work and the technological aspects of the initiative. 

The memorandum defined the role of each party in the development of the new platform and established each organisation’s contribution towards promoting volunteerism through their specialised bodies to support active engagement of youth within their communities.

“Volunteerism in Jordan is one of the main principles at the CPF and carries it at a great value, hence our Naua Initiative. The initiatives implementation aims to cover the urgent need of volunteerism at a national level,” the CEO of CPF Dr Tamam Mango said in the statement.

“This new partnership will enable the initiative to exchange experiences and knowledge between national and international entities to achieve our fundamental goal of serving Jordan, “ she added. 

The CEO of Naua, Ahmad Al Zu’bi emphasised the need of cooperation among all national and international institutions specialising in charitable work in Jordan, as per HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s vision. 

“This partnership demonstrates the importance of NAUA as a platform for volunteerism around the Kingdom. We hope this agreement will pose a positive impact locally, regionally and globally,” he said in the statement.

UNICEF Jordan representative, Robert Jenkins, added: “We are very proud and excited about the partnership with the CPF and Naua. This national initiative will expand engagement and volunteer opportunities for young women and men across the Kingdom, for their own empowerment and future prospects, and for the benefit of their communities and the country.”
