Cybercrimes Unit arrests two for fake tweets attributed to King

AMMAN — The Criminal Investigations Department’s cybercrime Section has arrested two individuals who published and circulated the fabricated tweet attributed to His Majesty King Abdullah, a press release by the Public Security Department (PSD) was quoted by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, as saying.
The PSD’s media spokesman said that the Cybercrimes Unit continuously monitors and follows up on all the news, data, publications and video clips being posted on social media, noting that any person who tries to create, disseminate and circulate any fabricated news, will be prosecuted.
He also called on all social media users to be vigilant before posting and circulating any information, and to verify their sources to avoid exposing themselves to legal accountability.
