AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah “has the final say” on when the parliamentary elections will be held and the Independent Election Commission is tasked with setting a date for the elections and supervising the process, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Mousa Maaytah said on Wednesday.
During a meeting with representatives of political parties, Maaytah highlighted the importance of the draft bylaw on party funding, which aims to "achieve justice" and grant parties equal opportunities to participate in the elections and reach parliament based on alliances, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
For their part, representatives of the parties said that they support the government in retrieving and safeguarding public money, calling on the ministry to maintain communication with political parties.
