Drivers seek swifter visa procedures to transport goods to Saudi Arabia

AMMAN — Truck drivers in Ramtha who transport goods to Saudi Arabia on Monday called on the Saudi embassy to speed up visa processing.

Gathered in front of the VFS TasHeel International visa centre in Ramtha, they delivered a petition to Ramtha District Director Bader Qadi calling for extending working hours at the centre, which process applications for Saudi visas, by two hours so passports can be returned the day after a visa application is submitted, rather than three days later.

Drivers said this would prevent delays in delivering refrigerators to Saudi importers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported from Ramtha. The drivers also asked that no extra fees be charged for visas, which cost JD40. Qadi said the company promised to increase its working hours and the number of employees.
