AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin on Monday attended the "Let’s Start Digital Media and Information Education 2021" teleconference, organised by the Protection of Family and Childhood Association in Irbid in cooperation with the Deutsche Welle Academy.
In his opening speech, Dudin stressed the importance of promoting media and information literacy in light of on-going developments in communication technologies and the large amount of information flowing through cyberspace and social media, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister said that these factors require the promotion of a culture equipped to deal with technological advancements, enabling individuals to reject rumours, disprove fake news, and enhance critical thinking skills.
The two-day conference included sessions presented by educators from different schools and certified teachers in media and information education, along with supervisors from youth centres and representatives of youth civil society institutions from Irbid.
