AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) is tasked with preparing a policy to develop and utilise natural resources across the Kingdom in addition to conducting economic and geological studies, EMRC President Ziad Saaideh said on Wednesday. During a field tour to quarries in Ruweished, Saaideh referred to the commission’s organisational and monitoring role, which contributed to a decline in violations in the mining sector from 330 in 2021 to 196 in 2022 through the implementation of 1,463 inspection tours across the Kingdom, according to an EMRC statement. He said that the tour is intended to check on challenges and complaints from workers in the sector, with the aim of solving any issues and facilitating procedures, urging violators to rectify their status as per the law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
