EMRC receives licence application for nuclear research reactor

AMMAN — The Energy and Mineral Resources Regulatory Commission (EMRC) on Wednesday received an application for a licence for the nuclear research reactor project at the Jordan University of Science and Technology.
EMRC Chief Commissioner Farouq Hiari said the commission will examine the application with regard to building codes, and relevant technical standards and laws.
He added that the commission has previously examined the environmental assessment report for the projected reactor in cooperation with concerned local agencies and American, Korean and European partners.
