Energy, environment ministers meet with German climate official, talk cooperation

AMMAN — Energy Minister Saleh Kharabsheh and Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh on Monday met with State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Jennifer Morgan.

During the meeting, Kharabsheh highlighted the need to enhance Jordanian-German cooperation in the field of energy by reviewing projects and plans related to renewable energy and hydrogen.

Radaideh focused on Jordan’s plans and measures to confront the effects of climate change, underlining the importance of bilateral and international cooperation to confront these challenges, including with the funding of such initiatives, as well as in preparations for the upcoming climate change summit.

In turn, Morgan lauded the Jordanian-German achievements expediting the transition to green energy and confronting climate change, voicing Germany’s keenness to work hand-in-hand with other countries to combat climate change.

In partnership with the German-Arab Friendship Association, Kharabsheh and Radaideh also met with representatives of the German private sector, during which they reviewed investment opportunities in the fields of energy and the environment, and also answered attendees’ inquiries.

The Jordanian delegation was briefed on Enertrag’s projects in the field of renewable energy and hydrogen, focusing on the extent to which the company’s expertise could benefit Jordan in this regard, given the availability of the infrastructure necessary for these projects in the Kingdom.
