AMMAN — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Tuesday received the ISO (9001:2015) accreditation certificate from the SGS company, a global leader in section, verification, testing and verification services.

The certificate recognised the ministry’s efforts in developing and implementing policies and legislation for sustainable energy security and optimal utilisation of natural resources, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ministry underwent a “rigorous” audit process by SGS Jordan, a branch of the  Swiss company, to demonstrate its compliance with the international standards of quality management.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh praised the achievement, saying that it reflects the ministry’s commitment to supporting its operations and ensuring sustainability through documented and consistent procedures.

Kharabsheh also hailed the internal audit team and SGS for their collaboration during the preparatory stage.

He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to addressing global energy challenges, emphasising the need for collaboration between the ministry, sector institutions, private entities, civil society and citizens to transform challenges into opportunities.

The minister expressed optimism about the Kingdom’s energy future, saying that the country is moving from being an energy importer to a source of green and renewable energy.

SGS Business Manager Ahmad Khawaja encouraged the ministry to pursue ISO 50001:2018, which focuses on energy consumption reduction systems in facilities.
