AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and KBW Investments on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding on LED lighting and solar energy.
KBW Investments owner Saudi Prince Khaled Bin Al Waleed said that establishing a factory for LED units in Jordan is among the most important projects he has supervised, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Under the memo, 115,000 lighting units will be replaced with energy-saving LED units on roads in Amman, and a solar energy station will be established to meet GAM’s electricity needs.
Amman Mayor Aqel Biltaji said the project would reduce the power bills of the GAM and other municipalities, and the money saved would be directed to other sectors.
