AMMAN — The security committee for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Thursday discussed final preparations and safety measures prior to the start of the tournament, slated for September 30.
During a meeting held at the Gendarmerie Department’s Command and Control Centre, the committee decided to carry out joint weekly drills every Monday and Wednesday at the four main sports cities where the tournament will take place.
All security agencies as well as the organising committee will be participating in the exercises, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Four stadiums, Amman International Stadium, King Abdullah II International Stadium in Qweismeh, Al Hassan Stadium in Irbid and Prince Mohammad Stadium in Zarqa, will host the championship’s 32 matches over the course of 22 days. Sixteen teams are playing in the tournament.
