AMMAN — A Finnish government delegation on Thursday visited Mafraq to get acquainted with UNDP’s activities to improve municipal and social services in governorates hosting refugees, the UN agency said. The delegates opened the first football pitch in Salhiya and Naifeh municipality, established by the UNDP, and attended a friendly match between Jordanians and Syrians, the UNDP said in a statement.
They also checked on environmental projects and a market showcasing products made by participants in an employment project. The UNDP briefed the Finnish officials on its project, “Minimising the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on host communities”, which aims to provide a comprehensive response to the refugee crisis and to contribute to preserving social and economic stability.
