First Jordanian Int’l Conference on Obesity Surgery begins

AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Princess Muna, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Lail Fayez on Wednesday inaugurated the first Jordanian International Conference on Obesity Surgery titled “Obesity: Current Fingerprints and Future Prospects” and organised by the Jordanian Society for Obesity Surgery (JSOS).
President of the Jordan Medical Association Ali Obous said that obesity surgery in the Kingdom recently witnessed a development in the expertise of doctors and of surgical techniques, making Jordan a destination for many Arab patients, and one of the leading countries in the region in this field.
The two-day conference will discuss new methods of treatment for obesity through the presentation of 60 scientific papers provided by lecturers from the US, Europe and Arab countries. On the sidelines of the conference, Fayez opened a medical exhibition specialised in obesity surgery equipment and medicines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
