AMMAN — Five family members died on Saturday when their car overturned and fell into the King Abdullah Canal in Northern Shuneh, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) said.

CDD personnel recovered the bodies and took them to Muath Bin Jabal Public Hospital, according to a CDD statement sent to The Jordan Times.

A source at the CDD said no further details were available.

One of the family members was a nine-year-old boy, according to the statement.

The department said Saturday that its personnel dealt with 103 accidents around Jordan that resulted in 52 injures during the past 24 hours.
