FM, French counterpart discuss Iraq over phone call

AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian over the phone on Wednesday stressed the necessity of easing tensions in the Arab Gulf region.
The two parties stressed the importance of exerting all efforts to peacefully resolve the crisis and avoid the possibility of a new crisis that, if aggravated, will threaten regional and international security and stability.
Safadi and Drian also stressed their shared position on the need to maintain Iraq's stability and security, while supporting the country’s rebuilding.
The phone call also covered the importance of maintaining the cohesion of the Global Coalition to Counter Daesh, with the two sides agreeing on maintaining coordination and consultation to overcome regional crises and achieve security and stability.
The two foreign ministers reiterated the centrality of the Jordanian-French partnership, underlining their countries keenness on advancing mutual cooperation in various fields.
