AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Wednesday met with chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat to discuss the latest developments in Palestine and the efforts to revive peace negotiations as well as the challenges facing them.

Judeh highlighted Jordan's support for the Palestinians, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, on all levels to ensure them their rights and help them establish their independent state on the national Palestinian soil, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

They reviewed the efforts to encourage serious and effective negotiations within a set time frame to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to accomplish the establishment of a Palestinian state within the pre-1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Erekat commended Jordan’s supportive stances towards the Palestinians and their cause, Petra said.

Also on Thursday, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah received a Lower House delegation, headed by Deputy Mahmoud Mheidat, and briefed them on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

Hamdallah stressed the historical and strategic relations between Jordan and Palestine, pointing out the continuous coordination between the leaderships of both countries, especially concerning threats facing Al Aqsa Mosque, and Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The prime minister and delegates also discussed the latest developments in the region and their impact on Palestinian issues, in addition to attempts to obliterate the cause and remove it from the international list of priorities.
