FM meets with Iraq, Egypt counterparts over tripartite cooperation

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to discuss progress in materialising the outcomes of the tripartite leaders’ summit that was held in Baghdad on June 27, 2021.
The ministers discussed the achievements of ministerial teams in the three countries, stressing the need to follow up on target projects and expedite their implementation in order to maximise benefit, develop economic potential and achieve strategic integration among the three countries, in a way that enhances joint Arab action and achieves the aspirations of people towards progress and prosperity.
Safadi stressed that the leaders' directives and desires are translated through increasing coordination among the three countries, and materialising strategic integration.
The Jordanin minister stressed the Kingdom's continued support for Iraq, its security and stability which are integral parts of the security and stability of the region, highlighting Jordan’s support for Iraq’s reconstruction efforts.
The ministers highlighted the importance of continuing consultation and coordination among the three countries within the framework of the tripartite cooperation, aiming to resolve regional crises and promote joint Arab action.
In addition, Safadi participated in the ministerial meeting of the Alliance for Pluralism, co-hosted by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, to discuss ways to address common challenges facing the international community.
Safadi focused on international efforts exerted to confront the pandemic, the promotion of human rights and efforts to combat climate change and protect biodiversity.
He emphasised the need for multilateral action, reiterating the Kingdom's commitment to work with all partners to confront common challenges, pointing out that His Majesty King Abdullah, in his speech at the 76th session of the General Assembly, affirmed the necessity of joint action, coordination and organisation to bring about positive global changes.
