Irbid CID cadres investigated break-ins at several houses in the northern governorate, and collected evidence from the crime scenes that led to the arrest of two suspects, the PSD said in a statement.
The suspects confessed to stealing money, gold, electronic devices and mobile phones from eight houses in Irbid, 80km north of Amman, and some of the stolen goods were retrieved and returned to their owners, according to the PSD.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects, who confessed to stealing gold and artefacts from 12 houses.
Police found some of the stolen goods in the house of one of the suspects, the PSD said.
Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in the theft of JD10,000 in cash from an accountant at a post office in Jerash several weeks ago.
The accountant said he intended to deposit the money at a bank, but a thief hit him and stole the cash. The investigation is ongoing, the PSD said.
