AMMAN — A French delegation of commercial and economic experts visited the Business Development Centre (BDC) to provide advisory services to four leading factories in Jordan on exporting their products to European Union countries.

These services are part of the vocational training project ending in industrial sector employment (Tanmia) project implemented by the BDC and funded by French Development Agency (AFD), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

BDC Director General Ghaleb Hijazi stressed the importance of partnership between the BDC and AFD, expressing his appreciation for the support and confidence in the BDC, which contributed to the programme’s success, in addition to the partnership between the public and private sectors that made the project a success.

He also praised the consultations provided to industrial companies to improve their production and exports to the European market.

Hijazi added that the BDC supports young men and women by designing demand-based programmes to integrate them into the labour market and motivate them to work in non-traditional roles.

He explained that the project constituted a significant leap in changing the mindset of society in drawing attention towards non-traditional professions after considering the labour market’s need for practical and professional expertise.

The director general said that such expertise can guarantee that skilled workers are entering the labour market and can also open opportunities and encourage entrepreneurship among young people.

The BDC is working to launch programmes to provide youth with vocational and technical skills and fill the labour market with the required skills to meet the changing market needs, thus contributing to reducing unemployment rates, Hijazi said.
