AMMAN — As part of the Greater Amman Municipality's (GAM) efforts to mark the Amman City Day, which falls on March 2, an initiative meant to distribute one million garbage bags to shops in neighbourhoods was launched on Saturday.
The seven-day campaign against littering aims to encourage the public to dispose waste in bags, notably in areas inaccessible by garbage collection machines, to be moved by the GAM's workers to the waste containers, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
A number of activities are in the pipeline to celebrate the Amman City Day, said Hussam Najdawi, Amman City Director for the Districts and Environmental Affairs.
