GAM shuts down 12 shops in Ramadan for health violations

AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality’s (GAM) Health and Occupational Control Department has shut down 12 shops since the beginning of Ramadan for committing health-code and other violations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The department’s head, Khaled Huneity, said that the department’s cadres carried out 900 field inspections, disposing of 7,095 litres of juices and other beverages in the process, in addition to 1,272 kilogrammes of foodstuffs that were deemed unsuitable for consumption.
The department issued 95 fines and 126 warnings to institutions that were found to be in violation of the health code.
