AMMAN — Public Works and Housing Minister Sami Halasa on Thursday toured schools with a USAID delegation to check on the work progress of the additional classrooms projects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Halasa began the tour with the first-phase prototype school, which has additional classrooms and a kindergarten.

The first phase includes 27 schools worth JD20 million. Halasa said that work is completed in most schools and furnishing is under way with a USAID grant.

The tour also checked on the second phase of the project, which includes 65 schools worth JD40 million. Halasa added that the ministry-USAID cooperation includes building 12 new schools with a cost of JD28 million.

The USAID delegation commended this cooperation, describing it as a “unique experience that should be followed”, while the minister praised USAID and the US government for their grant.
