AMMAN — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday stated that His Majesty King Abdullah's evaluation and analysis are important and of great value to NATO.
Stoltenberg made his remarks in response to a question by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, during a press conference held in Brussels, Belgium, on whether NATO foreign ministers will discuss the war on Gaza in their meetings scheduled to commence today.
Stoltenberg highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to the alliance earlier this month, indicating that during the visit, His Majesty provided a briefing to all allies on the developments in the Middle East, with the Palestinian issue at the forefront.
He said that Jordan is a "strong and highly valuable" ally to NATO, among other partners in the region.
Regarding the war on Gaza, Stoltenberg called for the cessation of hostilities in Gaza to be prolonged. "I call for an extension of the pause. This would allow for much needed relief to the people of Gaza," Stoltenberg said as quoted by the NATO website.
The NATO top official explained that the organisation lacks an active role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, yet the alliance is proactive in the region through the provision of training in Iraq to combat Daesh, in addition to cooperation with the Kingdom.
