Hot, dry weather forecast for weekend

AMMAN — A hot and dry air mass is forecast to impact the Kingdom on Saturday, pushing temperatures to 6-7 degrees above their annual average, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The weather on Thursday is moderate in mountainous areas and valleys, and hot in Badia, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD said.

The JMD also warned about the formulation of fog in high mountainous areas in the early morning hours. On Friday, temperatures are forecast to increase, bringing relatively hot weather in mountainous areas and valleys, and hot weather in the rest of the Kingdom, with westerly to northeasterly light winds, according to the JMD. 

The weather on Saturday is forecast to be dry and hot around the Kingdom, and very hot in Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with light easterly winds, according to the weather department.

The JMD urged the public citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, especially at midday, over the weekend and cautioned against leaving alcoholic disinfectants or flammable materials in vehicles. 

In Amman, temperatures are forecast to range between 31°C and 18°C on Thursday, 35°C and 21°C on Friday.

Temperatures are also expected to hike up to 39°C during the day and 25°C during the night on Saturday in the capital, according to the JMD.

In Aqaba, temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 39°C and a low of 25°C on Thursday. 

On Friday, they are forecast to hover between 42°C and 28°C, and increase to 44°C during the day and 30°C during Saturday night.
