Hot Eid holiday forecast

AMMAN — The country will remain under the impact of a relatively hot air mass, which started on Tuesday, during the coming week, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The relatively hot air mass, which originates from the Arabian Peninsula, will push temperatures four degrees above their annual average of 31ºC for this time of the year, JMD weather forecaster Laila Shaheen said.

“The impact of the relatively hot air mass will continue until next Monday, and hot to relatively hot and dry weather will prevail,” Shaheen told The Jordan Times on Tuesday. 

The weather on Wednesday and Thursday will be relatively hot in mountainous areas and hot in Aqaba, the Jordan Valley and badia, the JMD meteorologist added.

Temperatures in Amman will range between a high of 34ºC and a low of 20ºC-21ºC, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk at times.

The hot spell will continue during the Eid Al Fitr holiday between Friday and Monday, with another slight rise in mercury levels forecast for Friday, when the weather will be relatively hot in mountainous areas and hot in Aqaba, the Jordan Valley and badia, Shaheen said.

Daytime temperatures in the capital will reach 35ºC, dropping to 22ºC at night, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk in the afternoon.

Shaheen noted that temperatures will continue to be above their annual average for this time of the year between Saturday and Monday, reaching a maximum of around 34ºC-35ºC.
