AMMAN — In a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Mohammed Samir, Head of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee MP Khaldoun Hina on Sunday said that Jordanian-Egyptian relations have witnessed greater prosperity due to continuous cooperation between His Majesty King Abdullah and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Describing Jordanian-Egyptian relations as “deep-rooted”, Hina stressed that Jordan's positions regarding the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem are "firm", reiterating the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Members of the committee called for bolstering cooperation in the economic, commercial, tourism, water, agricultural and energy sectors, in addition to increasing Egyptian investments in the Kingdom.

Ambassador Samir said that Jordanian-Egyptian relations are characterised by shared interests, stressing the importance of continuous coordination between the two sides in all fields.

Praising King Abdullah’s stances on regional issues, especially the Palestinian issue, he described Jordan as a “pioneer” in its support for the Palestinian cause, along with Egypt.
