House speaker discusses region, terror with former Greek PM

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh met on Wednesday with former Greek prime minister George Papandreou.
Tarawneh said the lack of security and spread of extremism, and all the challenges facing the region are rooted in the failure to reach a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
Tarawneh stressed the importance of finding political solutions to the region’s problems. He also noted that Jordan was among the first countries to fight terrorism and promote the peaceful image of Islam.
Papandreou commended Jordan’s efforts in dealing with the different problems in the region, especially the war on terrorism and the hosting of Syrian refugees.
