India-Jordan Business Meet held

AMMAN — The Indian embassy on Monday held a seminar titled India-Jordan Business Meet in Amman with the participation of Invesment Minister Kholoud Saqqaf as the chief guest.
Members of the Jordanian Businessman Association, Amman Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Business and Professional Women Association, Jordanian entrepreneurs, members of Indian business community, academicians and media representatives attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Saqqaf stated that India and Jordan has shared close and cordial relations for more than 70 years with a key focus on bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The minister added that Jordan “deserves the attention” of Indian investors in high value added sectors such as ICT, logistics, tourism, industry, agriculture and health, said an embassy statement.
Saqqaf noted that the ministry is endeavouring to foster a suitable investment environment which will facilitate public-private partnership projects and further strengthen the growing trade ties between the two countries.
India’s Ambassador to Jordan Anwar Haleem highlighted that the bilateral trade between the two countries increased by a remarkable 60 per cent in the last three years despite pandemic-related disruptions.
The ambassador urged Jordanian and Indian businesspeople to explore partnerships in new sectors and to focus on strengthening, enhancing and expanding Jordan-India investment and trade ties by extending cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Representatives from the Jordanian Businessman Association and the Chamber of Industry also spoke in the seminar emphasising the recent achievements of the “fruitful economic partnership” between the two countries. The seminar was followed by an open interactive session.
