AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) launched on Tuesday an initiative to employ Jordanians in the industrial sector by establishing a training unit at its headquarters.
The initiative aims at reducing unemployment and supporting local residents through training 400 people in east Amman, Irbid and Zarqa, the chamber said.
The JCI will also create a database of jobs on demand that will be regularly updated.
The industrial sector currently employs 250,000 people, of whom 18 per cent are Jordanians.
JCI Deputy Chairman Adnan Abu Ragheb said the initiative seeks to employ local manpower in place of foreign workers.
