AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (intaj) on Sunday signed off on a project to establish and manage the first business incubator for emerging companies in the field of cybersecurity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The association stated in a statement that it intends to implement the two-year project, which it won with the Jordan Entrepreneurship Fund, in partnership with Zain Jordan and a number of competent authorities specialised in cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
CEO of Intaj Nidal Bitar said that the primary role of the incubator will be to focus on finding preventive and deterrent solutions to cyberattacks, by supporting and qualifying 15 emerging companies working on innovative products and solutions in the field of cybersecurity.
He added that the world spent about $152 billion on cybersecurity services and products during 2020, while spending is likely to increase by 30 per cent to $208 billion by 2023, in parallel with the rising demand for technology in the world.
CEO of the Jordanian Entrepreneurship Fund Laith Qassem said that the fund aims to create new economic sectors that would harness the creative and technical talents of Jordanian entrepreneurs and administrative teams to serve export markets.
This partnership by Zain Jordan comes to complement the role of its innovation platform, ZINK, in supporting entrepreneurs and startups, according to Petra.
