Interior minister meets with Emirati delegation, French ambassador

AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Sunday met with an Emirati delegation headed by Maj. Gen. Musallam Rashidi over means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between both countries’ security departments, especially in the exchange of expertise and combating crime, terrorism and extremism. Hammad highlighted the need to boost the "deep-rooted" partnership between the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hammad also briefed the delegates on the ministry's organisational structure and its main duties, specialisations and strategies, and reviewed the duties of the security bodies affiliated with the ministry.
Rashidi commended the Jordanian security bodies for their role in maintaining peace and stability, enforcing the rule of law and curbing crime, expressing his country's keenness to strengthen relations with Jordan to serve the interests of both countries.
Also on Sunday, Hammad and French Ambassador to Jordan David Bertolotti discussed ways to expand mutual cooperation at the security level. Talks also addressed the Syrian crisis and its negative repercussions at the local and international levels.
