Issawi inaugurates house for elderly, health centre in Amman

AMMAN — Under Royal directives, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday inaugurated the Hospitality House for the Elderly, which is affiliated with the White Beds Society, and the Jiza Comprehensive Health Centre in Amman. 

With the aim of improving services provided to the elderly and meeting their needs, the house underwent renovation upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah during his unannounced visit to the White Beds Society in June of last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The house includes 56 rooms for elderly people, as well as administrative offices, a theatre and kitchen. It is also equipped with solar panels.

The Jiza Comprehensive Health Centre, which was established upon Royal directives during His Majesty's meeting with the tribes of the Central Badia, includes clinics for general medicine, dentistry, internal medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, maternal and child health, emergency, X-ray, laboratories and a pharmacy.

Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, said the renovation aims to equip the house with necessary facilities for providing quality health and treatment services to the elderly that “meet the highest international standards”.

He added that the comprehensive healthcare centre offers the "best health and treatment services" to the public and can accommodate a large number of patients.

Social Development Minister Basma Ishaqat said that the ministry provides its services to 384 elderly people in 10 houses supervised by the ministry, noting that six elderly houses are affiliated with the voluntary sector and four with the private sector.
