AMMAN — Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Wednesday attended the launch of a programme to support youth and empower low-income households in Maan.

The Royal Initiative aims at improving the living standards and income of low-income households by establishing pilot and productive projects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the launch ceremony at the Royal Court, agreements were signed between the association of social development centres and 10 charity associations from all areas of Maan.

Agreements were also signed with two charity association coalitions, representing 12 charities from Petra, and 14 from Shobak.

The Business Development Centre and Al Qantara Centre for Human Resources Development signed an agreement to establish a business incubator in Maan Governorate to serve, train and assist young entrepreneurs in marketing their products.

In a speech at the ceremony, which was attended by Minister of Social Development Basma Ishaqat, Issawi said that the launch of the Royal Initiative was part of a series of continuous initiatives aimed at supporting youth in Maan.

Issawi added that the continuous efforts aim at implementing innovative projects that contribute to creating new jobs for youth, as well as empowering and enhancing their participation in sustainable development.

The initiative will help low-income households implement projects to provide them with income, in addition to supporting and empowering women economically, which positively reflects on their participation in various aspects of life, he added.
