Jaber pays visit to JFDA, highlights ‘pioneering role’ of administration in food, drug safety

AMMAN — Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) Saad Jaber on Monday said that the JFDA “plays a pioneering role” in maintaining food and drug safety by keeping pace with the latest scientific and global developments.

He added that the JFDA has become “a leader on the regional and international levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister made these remarks during a visit to the JFDA to review the strategic stock of medicines, as well as the procedures provided by JFDA technical and regulatory personnel regarding medicines and medical supplies and their conformity with health standards in light of the current COVID-19 crisis.

Jaber discussed with JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat the role assigned to the JFDA and the readiness of its specialised technical and regulatory personnel deployed in various governorates to ensure the health and safety of food and medicine.

Mheidat said that the JFDA’s work exists through a careful and sound system of procedures, operations, treatment services and providing strategic stock and oversight to enhance productivity and transparency in order to maintain health security in the Kingdom.
