AMMAN — The Jordan Hotels Association (JHA) has issued a guidebook for the operation of hotels in the Kingdom amid the pandemic crisis, according to the association.
The guidebook incorporates the detailed guidelines issued by the ministries of Health, Tourism and Environment, in addition to practices determined by the World Tourism Organisation and international hotel management companies, JHA General Manager Vatche Yergatian said.
“Through this guidebook, we seek to find an appropriate solution to overcome the severe damage sustained by the hospitality sector due to the pandemic,” Yergatian noted.
The focus “must be on maintaining safety and security”, which would have a “positive impact” by promoting and supporting domestic tourism, he said.
“The protocols provide detailed instructions and procedures for hygiene practices, service standards, safe operation of facilities and waste and facility management,” Yergatian said.
The guidelines also cover standards for preparing and serving food and drinks, hosting services and the receipt of purchased goods.
The guidebook has been distributed to more than 500 tourism establishments around Jordan that are members of the association, according to the JHA.
