AMMAN — Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) has dispatched 34 aid planes and 188 trucks to the war-torn strip, according to JHCO’s secretary-general, Hussein Shebli.

“The JHCO has so far delivered around 3015 tonnes of humanitarian and medical supplies, food and relief assistance to Gaza, through the Rafah border crossing and the Karm Abu Salem commercial crossing,” the secretary-general told The Jordan Times, reiterating that the organisation is the only body authorised to bring aid to the people of Gaza from the Kingdom.

He also reiterated JHCO's unwavering commitment to work “constructively” in order to pass more humanitarian aid into the besieged strip.

He also said that JHCO documents the financial and in-kind assistance it receives and coordinates all of its humanitarian operations and responses with the aim of expanding the domain of humanitarian action and better support Palestinian families in the besieged Palestinian territory.

According to the JHCO, a convoy carrying urgent relief supplies and winterisation aid arrived in Gaza on Monday. The winter kits and relief supplies are to be distributed in cooperation with local partner organisations based in Gaza.

JHCO said that 564.75 tonnes of relief supplies and aid were delivered via planes, while around 2440.25 tonnes of medicine, medical equipment, food assistance and aid were delivered via land crossings.

Additionally, the JHCO sent two planes laden with medical and emergency supplies that are to be distributed by official bodies in Gaza. The preparations included coordination with the Foreign Ministry, the Royal Jordanian Air Force and security agencies.

“In Gaza, people are in the midst of an epic humanitarian catastrophe, whereas four of five Gazans already face hunger and starvation,” according to the World Food Programme.

Recent data by UNICEF showed that nearly one million women and girls have been displaced, and more than 24,620 Palestinians have been killed.

The JHCO is receiving donations for Gaza via its accounts in Bank al Etihad: JO32 UBSI 1030 0000 4010 1659 9151 06, CliQ: JHCOGAZA.
