Jordan condemns ‘murder’, sends pathologists

AMMAN — The government on Wednesday condemned the “murder” of Palestinian Minister Ziad Abu Ein, who was killed after being beaten by Israeli forces during a protest march in Ramallah’s Turmus Ayya village in the West Bank.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani said the killing of Abu Ein is a clear case of human rights violation on the part of the Israeli occupation forces, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Also on Wednesday, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour instructed Health Minister Ali Hiasat to send two Jordanian forensic doctors to Palestine to help investigate the death of the minister.

Ensour also instructed Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh to facilitate procedures for the two doctors in their mission to Ramallah. 

Jordan’s Ambassador to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah, Khaled Shawabkeh, on Wednesday extended condolences, on behalf of the government and the Jordanian people, to the family of the late Abu Ein. 

Shawabkeh stressed Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, and denounced the assassination of the PA official.
