‘Jordan to further promote religious tourism after Baptism Site recognition’

AMMAN — Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez said Sunday the Kingdom will seek to promote religious tourism further, particularly after the Baptism Site, where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist according to Christian beliefs, was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Fayez said his ministry’s priority at this stage is to maximise “this national achievement” of the world’s recognition of the religious importance of the Baptism Site, capitalising on it to promote religious tourism.
