AMMAN — Jordan's Ambassador to Panama Adely Qasim Al Khalidi on Saturday participated in the launch ceremony of the Jordan-Panama Parliamentary Friendship Committee in Panama, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Panamanian House of Representatives, Gonzalo Gonzalez MP, the Chairman of the Committee Juan Esquivel MP, members of the committee from the Panamanian Parliament and Panama’s Ambassador to Jordan Jose Ulysses Lescuri.

MP Gonzalo Gonzalez noted that both countries established diplomatic relations in 1994.

Gonzalez added that Jordan's access to the Panama Free Trade Area expands trade cooperation and increases the volume of imports and exports between the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Khalidi pointed out that many agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed next year, noting the possibility to strengthen cooperation in fertiliser, phosphate, potash and pharmaceutical industries, as well as religious tourism.

The bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding  cover expatriates, academic cooperation between the University of Panama and the University of Jordan, tourism and the access of the Panama Free Zone and the Panama Commercial Zone, he added.
