Jordan to preside over Security Council next month

NEW YORK — Jordan will officially assume the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for one month as of April 1.
The Kingdom previously presided over the council in January 2014, after it was elected as a non-permanent member for two years until the end of 2015.

The Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Dina Kawar as Jordan’s permanent representative to the UN, succeeding HRH Prince Zeid who submitted his resignation in April upon his request.
Upon Jordan’s request, Omar Ababneh and Fares Odwan on Thursday were accredited as representatives of the Jordanian delegation to the UN Security Council.
Jordan, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, in coordination with Palestine, on Tuesday officially asked the council to hold an urgent meeting on the “dangerous” developments in East Jerusalem.
