Jordan receives 1.6% long-term rainfall average — Water Ministry

AMMAN — The Kingdom has received 1.6 per cent of Jordan’s long-term average annual rainfall of 8.1 billion cubic metres since the start of the rainy season compared with 2.1 per cent recorded for the same date last year, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Tuesday. 

The Adaseih region in Salt reported the highest precipitation over the past 24 hours, recording 9.3 millimetres, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ministry also reported a significant boost in dam storage, with recent rainfall adding around 470,000 cubic metres of water to the Kingdom's dams in just 24 hours. 

This brought total storage levels to 57.3 million cubic metres, representing 19.9 per cent of their full capacity of 288.128 million cubic metres, the ministry said. 

The Kingdom’s 10 major dams’ full storage capacity stands at 280mcm.
