AMMAN — Joyful music and processions of honking cars welcomed the results of the 2021 Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate Examination) on Monday morning.

“During the Tawjihi results day, students flooding into the streets and blasting car horns are common sights,” said Noor Emad, whose brother passed the Tawjihi this year.

Some express frustration with the packed crowds and traffic jams.

“I am glad for the students who passed Tawjihi, but there is no need to bother others,” said Amal Yousef.

Meanwhile, others relish the celebrations. Mohammad Saad, who passed the Tawjihi this year, told The Jordan Times that he is “extremely” excited to start his university studies.

During a press conference on Monday, Education Minister Mohammad Abu Qudais said that the passing rate reached 60.8 per cent; 65.5 per cent in the scientific stream and 50.5 per cent in the literary stream.

Ahmad Fayez Al Ajalin scored 99.75 per cent, the highest mark in the Kingdom in the scientific stream. Farah Dahnus scored 99.45 per cent, the top achiever in the literary stream.
